Superstar Appears Destined for Broadway Stardom
Conceived by Moises Roberto Belizario with original Book, Music and Lyrics by Jason Michael Webb, Lelund Durond Thompson and Moises Roberto Belizario, Superstar is the ultimate interactive theatrical experience. Capitalizing on the cultural phenomenon of reality television talent contests, Superstar brings to life the story of six finalists in a heated talent competition. With its radio-ready, contemporary crossover score and lyrics, Superstar artfully blends the on-stage reality show with all the backstage drama - incorporating romance, conflict, plot-twists and foul play - everything they don’t show you on TV. Superstar captivates audiences of all ages – entertaining traditional and non-traditional theater-goers alike.
Driving the competition is THE AUDIENCE – an integral part of the show itself.
The experience begins long before arriving at the theater. The Superstar online
experience will include photos, bios, video clips, chatting, and blogging,
all designed to engage the audience, allowing them to become fans of individual "contestants," all
before seeing the show. On-site, THE AUDIENCE VOTES – live during the show – and
on any given night, ANYONE can win! The post-event experience includes the on-site
sale of the Superstar CD with the photo of that night’s winner on the cover,
and hopefully a return to the website for more chatting and blogging, and an
eventual return to the show, again and again.
In late 2008, a very well-received staged reading of Superstar created a lot
of buzz as one of "the hottest showings of new material." Presented
by Michael T. Fiur Productions, in association with Nederlander Presentations,
Inc. and StarGames, Inc., the reading featured Mario Cantone in the title role
of the show’s "Host," Spencer
Hamilton.
